Every Impression Internet hosting package comes with the use of our powerful Control Panel which is packed full of powerful tools and features to not only run your hosting account but to help add extra functionality to your website, one of which is a Google Sitemap generator.

With Google being the world’s most popular search engine, it’s vital that your website is ranked well within it. The best way of making sure Google can find your content as easily as possible is to create a .xml Sitemap. A Sitemap is a file containing a list of every page within your website, it is extremely useful for alerting search engines to your content allowing it to be indexed more effectively. Google Sitemaps are particularly handy if your site is new and has few links to it or has an archive of pages which are not linked to each other, a Sitemap will ensure that Googlebot (Google’s search engine spider) will crawl through each link submitted.

Creating a Sitemap manually is normally a laborious and complicated task. Using our Control Panel you can use our Google Sitemap generator tool to create a Sitemap within seconds. We can even upload your Sitemap to Google to ensure that Googlebot will spider your website as quickly as possible. We recommend that every time you update your website you run this tool to re-generate the sitemap file with the new links so they can be indexed much quicker.

Joomla CMS uprgaded to 1.5.1

We have updated our Joomla installer to 1.5.1 today.

To install the new version log-in to your Control Panel and select the hosting account you want to access. Then simply go to the CGI/PHP Scripts section.

Drupal And Coppermine Added To PHP/CGI Scripts

You can now install Drupal (a popular Content Management System) directly from your hosting admin panel at the click of a button.

After you’ve logged in to your admin panel click “CGI/PHP Scipts” and select Drupal from the list.

We’ve also added Coppermine, an online picture gallery.

Please note, both these options will use one MySQL database if they are installed.

Free Google Sitemap Generator

Having your website listed in Google is vital. Google has a special tool called Google Sitemaps which generates a list of all the files on your website and sends them to Google. This allows Google to find all of your web pages and files.

The software to generate a Sitemap is quite complicated but we have made it really easy by integrating the software into our control panel. We would recommend everyone generates a Google sitemap and then re-generates it every time their site is updated.

New Control Panel features and upgrades

We are delighted to announce various free upgrades to our hosting features, control panel and free software you can install on your account:

Email

All mailboxes have now been upgraded from 50 MB to 100 MB.

WebMail storage has been upgraded from 100 MB to 1 GB (a massive 10 x increase!)

IMAP has been enabled on all mailboxes allowing you to connect to any of our mailservers using IMAP. With IMAP your mail is stored on the server, you can create folders and delete email and all these actions happen on the server. This means that you can use any IMAP compatible mail client such as Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Outlook on any computer connected to the Internet to read your email. Each mailbox can store up to 100 MB of email.

Web Servers

PHP4 has been upgraded to 4.4.7 and PHP5 to 5.2.3 on all web servers.

SOAP support has been added to PHP5 allowing PHP programmers to interact with SOAP based web services.

Ruby has been upgraded to 1.8.5 on all web servers.

Imagemagick and Ghostscript enabled and updated on all web servers.

Control Panel

Email Filter Logs have been updated so you can have the log emailed to you immediately.

Junk Mail Filters have been updated so you can choose to have the subject of an email that is suspected as SPAM changed to “***SPAM*** Original Subject”. To enable this feature visit the Junk Mail Filters page in the Email Configuration area of eXtend.

Zencart upgraded to the latest version, you can install a new copy from the CGI/PHP Scripts area in eXtend.

New Scripts to Install

RoundCube Webmail - RoundCube Webmail is a browser-based multilingual IMAP client with an application-like user interface. It provides full functionality you expect from an e-mail client, including MIME support, address book, folder manipulation, message searching and spell checking. Once installed you can use RoundCube to access any mailbox on our servers using IMAP. Ideal for anyone wanting their own Webmail installation or for Resellers looking to have a Webmail client on their website.

Gallery - Share your pictures with others or view them over the internet. Upload your pictures while on holiday so you can take more. Create groups of people who can see different sets of pictures e.g. you might let your football team see pictures from matches .

MediaWiki - A collaborative technology for organizing information on Web sites. Work with others to maintain information. For example if you run a business you can share information with your colleagues at the same time as documenting it for yourself.

SugarCRM - A Customer Relationship Management application - This application lets a business keep track of its relationships with its customers. Users can manage customer accounts, contacts, sales leads, calls, meetings etc. A dashboard showing the most successful leads, the sales pipeline, and the month-by-month outcomes for opportunities in the pipeline can be displayed.
